PanatrackerGP creates transactions in Dynamics GP using an independent number sequence. This design provides several benefits:
PanatrackerGP users don't need to be set up as Dynamics GP users. The audit history of transactions is captured and maintained in the PanatrackerGP logging database.
Transactions can be entered through both PanatrackerGP and the Dynamics GP interface. Different number sequences make it easy to identify the entry point of each transaction.
Independent sequencing eliminates any possibility of duplicate transaction numbers in GP. Even pending or failed transactions from PanatrackerGP receive transaction numbers, allowing sequence tracking even if the transaction is eventually discarded.
Independent transaction numbering allows Panatrack to easily confirm the transaction source by the transaction number when providing support.
For some operations, PanatrackerGP updates existing records rather than creating new transactions (e.g., sales order fulfillment, manufacturer cross-reference assignments). Independent transaction numbering provides consistent support across all system operations.
In the Transaction Setup section of the PanatrackerGP administrative dashboard, you can configure:
Recommendation: Use a different prefix than what's assigned in Dynamics GP to make it easy to identify the transaction source for audit and review purposes.
