Error Message
Could not convert item code UofM: '[Item code]' from '[Unit of measure or empty string]' to a BASEUOM for the in-progress transaction for [Transaction name].
Transaction types include: Adjustment, Site Transfer From, Site Transfer To, Receiving, Order Fulfillment, Issue Inventory, Assembly, and Connected Sales.
Cause
PanatrackerGP converts all in-progress, pending, or failed transactions to the base unit of measure to display correct available quantities. If a unit of measure cannot be converted to the base unit, this error appears.
This error occurs during handheld validation and indicates a problem in the PanatrackerGP database, not Dynamics GP. The error is NOT caused by the current transaction you're processing—it's caused by an older existing transaction in the portal.
Common Causes
- Unit of measure schedule was changed (removed or changed spelling on a conversion)
- Data migration issue (usually from the above)
- User submitted an inappropriate unit of measure on the handheld
Solution
- Open the PanatrackerGP portal.
- Navigate to the transaction list mentioned in the error:
- Adjustment — Check both Remove Adjustment and Add Adjustment
- Site Transfer From/To — Check Site Transfer
- Other transactions — Match exactly as shown in portal
- Tap the Filter icon next to the Status column header.
- Filter by Failed status and tap Filter.
- Search for transactions with the item code and unit of measure shown in the error message.
- When found, either Discard the transaction or Edit it to use the correct unit of measure.
- Repeat steps 3-6 for Pending and InProgress statuses.
- Retry your original transaction to verify it's working properly.
Prevention
To avoid inappropriate unit of measure submissions, ensure users press Enter after entering data or scanning into fields on the handheld.
