Authentication of hand held devices and users in PanatrackGP

PanatrackGP uses its own authentication system stored in the Panatrack database — Windows Active Directory credentials are not required on the devices.

Web Portal Authentication

The PanatrackGP web portal authenticates users through its internal mechanism. There is no enforced user-count limit for portal actions such as system setup and viewing transaction history.

Device Authentication

Each handheld device registers itself with the portal using a unique hardware key and token. This is the count enforced by the licensed device limit.

  • Enrollment — When a handheld is first set up, the enrollment process allows the portal administrator to authorize the device and assign it a profile (GP company and system settings).
  • Deactivation — A portal administrator can deactivate a handheld's access at any time.
  • License count — Only activated devices count against the device license limit.
