How does an internet-facing deployment of PanatrackerGP differ from a regular installation?
An Internet Facing Deployment (IFD) exposes PanatrackerGP functionality externally outside your local network, making the web portal and device web services accessible from anywhere on the internet.
Security Requirements
External access requires securing the application server.
Minimum IFD Requirements
Complete these configurations before PanatrackerGP installation:
- SSL Certificate — Install on your IIS server to ensure secure communication between handheld devices and PanatrackerGP portal
- Network Firewall Ports — Open and forward appropriate ports to allow outside traffic to access your IIS server, making the PanatrackerGP portal reachable from the internet (consult your firewall/router documentation for port-forwarding)
Your network or hosting resource must perform these configurations before installation.
Operational Differences
From an operational perspective, internet-facing deployment operates similarly to standard PanatrackerGP implementation. After network configuration completion, the Panatrack implementation team configures the portal to operate via SSL.
