Timeout to the PanatrackerGP website

Symptom

"Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation, or the server is not responding. The wait operation timed out."

Cause

This error means the handheld cannot contact the server hosting PanatrackerGP. A timeout is occurring either:

  • Between the handheld and the PanatrackerGP portal, or
  • Between the PanatrackerGP portal and the SQL Server databases

Solution

Basic Troubleshooting

  1. Restart the handhelds and attempt to connect again.
  2. Try connecting to the PanatrackerGP portal from your desktop. - If you cannot connect, contact support.
  3. If possible, restart the SQL Server.
  4. Check resource usage on the servers for abnormally high RAM/CPU usage that may be causing the application to hang.

Adjust Connection Timeout Settings

To increase the connection timeout in IIS:

  1. Open IIS on the server that hosts the PanatrackerGP website.
  2. Navigate to the Sites section.
  3. Right-click the PanatrackerGP website.
  4. Select Manage Web Site.
  5. Tap Advanced Settings.
  6. Expand Connection Limits.
  7. Adjust the Connection Time-out value as needed.
  8. Save the changes.
