Panatrack Release Notes November 2024

Rental Infrastructure for Billing Calculations

Rental infrastructure was added to support billing calculations:

  • New Billing Schedules setup section with daily and hourly calculations.
  • Ability to assign a billing schedule to item master records with the rental-to-customer rule.
  • Unit Billing Grid — reporting grid view for calculated billing records.
  • Unit Billing Report — added to the report library.
  • Infrastructure for billing logic to support refining calculations.

Item Template Setup Changes

  • Create and Receive New Unit transactions have been separated for enabling attribute assignments.
  • Check Out and Transfer Custody transactions added as options for serial-tracked unit attribute assignments (capture or display).
  • Added Item Type option to template setup:
    • Asset-Returnable — Inherits the "Track as Returnable" rule. Additional rule options are presented based on asset management needs. Available for both serial and quantity-tracked items.
    • Inventory — Displays rules for managing inventory items.

Other New Features

User Setup

  • Corrected the ability to edit a system user's display name (previously defaulted to email without option to change).
  • Panatrack system support users moved to a separate tab under User setup.

Transaction Updates

  • Transfer Custody for Billing — Updated logic to support rental billing, including setting check-in date/time and resetting check-out date/time.
  • Menu Naming Changes — "Reserve & Check Out" renamed to Check Out on mobile. "Pick Order" renamed to Order Pick on mobile.

Grid Column Updates

  • Item Template and Validation Status columns added to Validation Audit and Grid Views.
  • Customer type column added to Customer grid views.
  • Container type column added to Movable Container grid view.
  • Receipt Date, Place-In-Service Date, and Unit Cost columns added to Grouping grid views.
  • Executed date and time columns added to Validation logs (separate from the Create date).

Attributes

Attribute setup updated to define where each attribute is available: Item Masters, Serialized Units, Lot Item Units, Transactions, Transactional Templates, Movable Containers, Shipment Templates, Project Templates, and Grouping Templates.

System Cost Fields

System fields for Unit Cost and Item Master Cost added. If tracking unit cost with a custom attribute, contact Panatrack to migrate to system fields. A new item template rule displays the system Unit Cost field. If using Purchase Orders, unit cost is automatically inherited from the PO line item.

Unit Build

On Build Unit/Update Build Unit, an in-build component that is also a parent (master) can be selected for component assignment edits without removing it first. Improved display of parent-child relationships.

New Settings

  • Restrict assignees based on facility assignment for Check Out and Check In transactions.
  • Time zone setting added to Organization Setup.
  • Inactive checkbox added for Item Masters to restrict adding new units.

Update Unit

Added logic to support selection of deployed units on the Update Unit transaction.

Validate-Count Unit Updates

  • Two new tabs on Validate Logging:
    • Item Count Reconcile — Returns expected quantity-tracked items when an area is selected. Counts and variances update as items are counted.
    • Unit Validation Reconcile — Returns expected serial-tracked items when an area is selected.
  • Quantity-tracked item logic changed: expected quantity returns when the item is selected (not when the area is selected), providing an accurate count at that point in time.

Desktop Menu Updates

  • New Admin Transactions section: Transfer Ownership, Reclassify Unit, Replace Handle, and Grouping features.
  • Transfer Custody moved under Check Out Management. Transfer logging generates 3 entries (Transfer, Check In, Check Out) to support billing logic.

Grid View Settings

The main Item Grid View now has a settings section. Column display and order are no longer browser-cached — they are inherited from settings. Define columns and column order for your personal view. This will be applied to other grids in subsequent releases.

Roadmap

Next release planned for mid-January. Currently in development:

  • Unit Maintenance Enhancements — One-time maintenance plan option for work orders. Ability to save in-progress maintenance. Dedicated mileage/hours support with period-based tracking on transactions.
  • Delivery Transaction and Support — New delivery transaction, updated transfer and customer orders, and shipping template logic updates for delivery vs. shipping workflows.
  • Validate-Count Enhancements — New "Consignment Count" transaction for automated variance processing. Additional logging, date/time columns, pre-defined audit schedules, and variance editing.
  • Lot Tracking Support — Lot tracking across the system.
  • Scan to Count — Option to enter quantity or count scans for quantity-tracked items, starting with Order Pick.
  • Managing Team — New team concept separating custodian logic (for checked out/deployed) from owning team (for reporting/view-only users). Expected Q2 2025.
